running cramps

Running cramps affect everyone, including runners that are in good shape. These running cramps are related to many things, including what you eat and how you breathe, but the most important thing to do is stretch before and after every run and make sure you are well hydrated during, i.e. drinking at regular intervals even before you are thirsty. When you run, make sure you are bringing enough oxygen into your system. The best way to do this is to take full breaths, that means completely exhaling to allow for a new, full breath. It all sounds straight forward and common sense, but you’d be amazed at how many people forget the basics and end up paying for it with running cramps. If you eat a few bananas before a run they are a great help, as they are an excellent source of potassium, which helps prevent running cramps. An individual should also always try to run within their ability. If you want to run longer distances, follow a training program that will allow the muscles to build up to handle those distances without excessive fatigue, because fatigue is the major trigger for running cramps.
